Ichinose Family Ski Area

Ichinose Family Ski Area is centrally located within the expansive Shiga Kogen Mountain Resort in Yamanouchi Town, Nagano Prefecture. Featuring two quad lifts and two pair lifts, the area offers a well-balanced mix of beginner to intermediate terrain, making it ideal for families and casual skiers.

Okushiga Kogen

Okushiga Kogen Ski Area is the northernmost resort within the expansive Shiga Kogen Mountain Resort in Nagano Prefecture, offering excellent snow quality, scenic alpine views, and a relaxed, uncrowded atmosphere. Known for its higher elevation and north-facing slopes, Okushiga enjoys light, dry powder snow throughout the season making it a favourite among powder hunters and advanced skiers.

Yakebitaiyama

Yakebitaiyama is one of the most popular and well-equipped ski areas within the vast Shiga Kogen Mountain Resort in Nagano Prefecture. Renowned for its modern facilities, extensive terrain, and excellent snow conditions, it attracts skiers and snowboarders of all levels, especially intermediate and advanced riders.

With high-speed gondolas and multiple chairlifts, Yakebitaiyama offers quick access to a variety of runs from long, groomed cruisers to challenging steeps. The area also features courses used during the 1998 Nagano Winter Olympics and FIS World Cup races, making it a favourite for those seeking thrilling, well-maintained slopes.

Terakoya Ski Area

Terakoya Ski Area, located within Shiga Kogen, is known for its high elevation and exceptional powder snow. Ideal for intermediate skiers and snowboarders, it offers a tranquil atmosphere with mostly groomed runs and natural terrain. Easily accessible via Ichinose Family, Terakoya also features a cozy rest house and nearby onsens, making it perfect for a relaxing day on the slopes.

Access Information

Traveling to Shiga Kogen is easy and efficient, whether you're coming by train or car. The fastest route is to take the Hokuriku Shinkansen (bullet train) from Tokyo to Nagano Station, which takes around 1.5 hours. From Nagano Station, frequent direct buses run to Shiga Kogen and take approximately 70–90 minutes, depending on your final destination within the resort area.

If you're traveling by car, take the Joshinetsu Expressway and exit at Shinshu-Nakano I.C. From there, it’s about a 45-minute scenic drive to Shiga Kogen. Most ski areas offer parking near the slopes, with some fees during weekends or peak periods.
