Kusatsu area is one of the most famous onsen (hot spring) areas of Japan, located about 3 hours from Tokyo. The surrounding volcanic landscape lends itself to canyoning, creating a number of steep ravines carved through the basalt. Deer Canyon, our main course, is one of the best technical canyons in Japan and post tour you can soak in one of the many Onsens on offer.
Canyons Kusatsu is operated by Keita (Keita Nishinomura), a veteran of 18 years of canyoning guide experience.
After graduating from university, one of my friend introduced me to Canyons, where I experienced canyoning and was shocked. I received guide training and started my life as a canyoning guide.
I have been involved in developing various courses such as Okutama Holy, Mononoke course and Izu Orochi course, so far.
I also have experienced canyoning in the valleys around Wanaka in New Zealand and in several valleys in Taiwan.
My favorite canyon is Deer Canyon. Then I signed a franchise contract with Canyons and create “Canyons Kusatsu”.
