After 20 years of research in the Kii Peninsula, Canyons Kiho Base opened in July 2022.
We are super excited to be bringing our world-class style of canyoning and packrafting experiences to the Kansai region, with access from Nagoya and Osaka within three hours via the incredibly scenic Kuroshio line.
The Kiho area has amazing rivers and waterfalls and an awesome "inaka" (countryside) vibe with warm locals, great food and picturesque scenery. It is also a part of the Kumano Kodo Iseji route with our packrafting course also begin a part of the old Kumano Kodo pilgramge route to Hayatama Taisha Shrine.
This is the perfect adventure escape if you're in Osaka, Kyoto or Nagoya areas.
Kiho is located in the southernmost reaches of Mie Prefecture on the border with Wakayama. The area is blessed with magnificent mountains, lush forests and amazing rivers and waterfalls.
Nearby, the Kumano River offers boat rides, there is hiking on the Kumano Kodo, plenty of historic sites and some of the best seafood in Japan.
Make the most of your trip by staying at the fabulous Hisetsuno waterfall campground, or at one of the nearby guest houses or hotels in Shingu. We provide a pick up and drop off service to local stations and accommodations!
